Lollapalooza 2025: Four Days in Chicago
Lollapalooza is one of the world's premier music festivals — a four-day, eight-stage celebration of music, art, and culture set in Grant Park on Chicago's stunning lakefront. The 2025 edition runs July 31 – August 3, featuring 170+ artists across all genres, with single-day and four-day passes available. It's a quintessential Chicago summer experience that draws 400,000 attendees from around the world.
Why Lolla is Different
Unlike destination festivals that require camping in the desert or remote travel, Lollapalooza happens in the heart of Chicago — you can walk back to your hotel after every night. Grant Park is one of the most beautiful urban festival settings in the world, with the Chicago skyline as your backdrop and Lake Michigan just steps away. The festival also features Lolla Jr. (kids area) and world-class food vendors representing Chicago's diverse culinary scene.
Fan Travel Guide: Chicago
Getting There: Chicago is easily accessible from anywhere in the US. O'Hare (ORD) and Midway (MDW) airports serve dozens of direct routes. From the city, take the CTA Green or Orange Line to Roosevelt station, then walk 10 minutes to the festival gates. Do not drive — parking near Grant Park is extremely limited during Lolla.
Where to Stay: Book as early as possible — festival weekends fill Chicago hotels 6+ months out. The South Loop, the Loop, and River North neighborhoods are all walkable or a short cab from the festival. The Marriott Marquis Chicago and The Blackstone are excellent choices in the South Loop.
Lolla Survival Kit: Comfortable sneakers (no heels on festival grounds), a poncho (Chicago weather is unpredictable), portable phone charger, reusable water bottle, cash (some vendors are cash-only), and a fanny pack or small crossbody bag. Leave large backpacks at your hotel.
Food & Drink: Lollapalooza has some of the best festival food in the world. Giordano's deep dish, Chicago-style hot dogs, and local food trucks cover every craving. Premium food areas like the Chow Town section spotlight Chicago's top restaurants.
